From Police Officer to Business Owner
Amanda Biggers Reyes is an Austin-area entrepreneur and the owner of three local businesses: Lakeway Blinds & Shutters, Junkluggers of Austin and Remix Market Austin.
Born in Brazil, Amanda began her career in law enforcement there and later served as a police officer near Cincinnati, Ohio. After starting a family, she decided it was time for a new direction, and in 2018 she moved to Austin. While working as a manager for an Austin junk removal company, she discovered her passion for entrepreneurship and set out to build something of her own.
In 2023, Amanda became the third owner of Lakeway Blinds & Shutters, a window treatment company that has served the Lakeway community for 20 years. In December 2024, she purchased Junkluggers of Austin and Remix Market Austin from another woman business owner. Junkluggers of Austin's mission is to be the city's go-to environmentally friendly junk removal company, and Remix Market Austin is a furniture and home décor resale store offering vintage pieces, estate treasures and gently used furnishings rescued by Junkluggers. Together, the two businesses keep reusable items out of landfills, and through a partnership with Family Eldercare, Remix Market Austin helps furnish homes for elderly people in the community.
Amanda speaks fluent Portuguese and some Spanish. She is a mother of two, and her church-going family loves to travel and spend time together.
